Welcome to Joe McConaughy's Fundraising Page

On June 18th, 2014, Joe McConaughy set out to be the fastest person to run the entirety of the 2,660-mile-long Pacific Crest Trail. By averaging over 50 miles a day, Joe, trail name 'String Bean,' he bested the previous record by over 6 days with a time of 53 days, 6 hours and 37 minutes. Joe's run was dedicated to preserve and honor his recent cousin, Colin McConaughy, and to raise money for families and individuals effected by cancer.

Just after his 2nd birthday in 2012, Colin Emmet McConaughy passed away from an aggressive brain cancer called Neuroblastoma. Even though his time on earth was too short, Colin lived life to the fullest. He loved reading with Mom and Dad or Andrew. He loved dancing to “Yo-Gabbba-Gabba” and had learned to sing his ABCs. He is survived by his parents, Rob and Andrea, and his brother, Andrew.
